Estudió guitarra con Carlos Molina, y composición en la Universidad Internacional de Florida (FIU), en Miami, con Fred Kaufman y Orlando García, y prosiguió estudios en la Universidad del Sur de California (USC), con Stephen Hartke y Donald Crockett.
