These are timeless thoughts, told by the voice of renowned and multi-awarded Italian actor Pierfrancesco Favino in a 20-minute documentary preceding the Giorgio Armani Spring / Summer 2021 show, through a moving montage of images, memories and an archival interview spanning decades of the dazzlingly consistent Armani style, before giving way to the new collection, which premiered on television.

In the documentary, Giorgio Armanis language evolves relentlessly, while remaining firm in its roots. It oscillates in subtle balances between rigor and sensuality, city and exoticism, purity and slight concessions to eccentricity. It is the result of a process of subtraction, which captures time and the sublime, creating a fashion that goes beyond fashion. For the Spring-Summer 2021 collection, the silhouettes, for both men and women, are essential, soft, fluid: a mixture of pure lines and neutral colors «gray, beige, black, blue» which are illuminated with occasional geometries, swarming with rhythmic patterns, following a real but also metaphorical idea of ​​tone on tone, but which never outweighs the rest. What emerges is the personality of a woman and a man who are free from aesthetic constraints, attentive rather than expressing themselves through what they wear. Whether everything is matt or shimmering, it is the sense of measure that continues to assert itself, to overcome time.
