For Fall-Winter 2020, Donatella Versace presents for the first time the women’s and men’s collections on the same runway in a celebration of equality and inclusivity.
Fall-Winter 2020 for women features bold, structural shapes embellished with signature slashes that add edginess to classic little black dresses. In eveningwear, Metal Mesh mini-dresses boast crystal-enriched bands placed along the neckline and shoulders.
The men’s Fall-Winter 2020 silhouette is characterized by broad shoulders and a nipped-in waist, evoking a hyper-masculine figure. Sports references inform the collection and appear on head-to-toe tracksuits and netting-backed nylon separates. A new sneaker, the Trigreca, grounds the looks with utilitarian edge.
Both women’s and men’s looks are paired with new iterations of the Versace Virtus handbags.
In the days leading up to the House’s first co-ed runway presentation, the Milanese headquarters become a space for show preparations. Chief Creative Officer Donatella Versace and her team make decisions on hem lengths, styling and accessories. Versace doesn’t care about gender, she cares about confidence. The putting together of the looks, models’ casting, the choice of music all reflect sensuality and self-confidence, freedom of expression and the sense of belonging.
“The reason I wanted to show my men’s and women’s collections together today is because men and women are equally powerful. It doesn’t have anything to do with gender, it’s that their power comes from a different type of confidence” — Donatella Versace
